Building a Sustainable Distribution Network:
A New Milestone for Ceramic Water Purifiers in Cambodia
Since 2001, IDE has promoted Ceramic Water Purifiers (CWPs) for household water treatment in Cambodia. With help from partners like you, CWPs have improved the health and quality of life of more than 90,000 households throughout the country.
A key part of IDE’s strategy has been to develop a sustainable distribution network to ensure ongoing supply of new and replacement filters. Currently, more than 100 retailers have been established throughout the country.
As the next phase in developing this network, IDE is transferring distribution responsibilities to four private distributors covering four regions in the country. Each distributor is trained by IDE and certified to support the retail network in their area and to provide training to your staff and filter recipients.
If you are planning to purchase CWPs for your field programs, we encourage you to contact the distributor in your project area directly. IDE will no longer make direct sales to NGOs, IOs, or government agencies but we will be happy to help facilitate relations with the distributors during this transition period. Feel free to contact IDE with any questions you may have.
As always, we recommend that CWPs be sold to recipients, not given away for free. Research and experience has shown that people who pay for a CWP are more likely to use it properly, to use it longer, and to replace it when needed.
Thank you for your continued support.
